This smoothie is such a powerhouse of nutrients! With alkaline and vegan protein powder fruit, and an array of super foods, this smoothie is a delicious and slimming way to start your day

INGREDIENTS

1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1/2 banana
1/2 packet unsweetened frozen acai packet or 1/2 cup blueberries
1 scoop raw vegan protein powder ( I love Sunwarrior)
1 tsp. maca powder
1 tsp. Vitamineral Greens or other green powder
1 tsp. Earth Minerals (Health Force Brand)
1 tsp. bee pollen
1 tsp. hemp seeds
1 tsp. chia seeds
2 packets Truvia
Ice cubes (optional)

DIRECTIONS

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until deliciously creamy!

This is so darn simple. Blend half frozen, half room temp bananas in a high speed blender. That’s it. I can make 5-10 banana smoothies for lunch and feel amazing afterwards! Add 1/2 to 1 cup berries for additional phytonutrients and flavor. The one in the photo is what some people call Banana milk or they’ll add slice banana for banana cereal but I generally keep it simple and just make a smoothie or bowl of ice cream.

This recipe is nourishing to the liver (which is a major detox organ), alkalizing, balances electrolytes in the body, and the herbs bring in a heavy metal cleansing punch. Sometimes, when juicing herbs, one can pull up more heavy metals then desired and find themselves headachey and fatigued. Start small and pay attention to symptoms, and if you do feel symptoms, do an enema to help clear your lower intestine to allow things to move through and out more quickly. Infrared sauna also helps draw those toxins out through the skin, as does exercise.

One of the things that has made a huge difference for me when I feel as though I am not getting enough of ‘something’ in cleansing or fruitarian living, is protein. I used to really feel that ‘getting enough protein’ was a silly notion, that our body could make the amino acids perfectly fine from fruits and vegetables, but I have certainly noticed that when I eat something with more protein in it, I do feel more satiated, and if I do greens and fruit throughout the day as well, I don’t feel the need to smash in the carbs which have me often feeling stuffed but not satiated.

I love to use my body to dance, do ballet, pilates, yoga, jog and other work, and this recipe is perfect to eat after a good morning workout. I generally will have a green juice beforehand, and then a little later eat this pancake while driving to work. It has become a very enjoyable process and I always look forward to the drive and satiety it brings.

Many people think fruit is high in sugar and so it must be fattening in bigger quantities. What I have seen again and again in cleansing books throughout the decades however (ie. Arnold Ehret/Steve Meyerowitz/Norman Walker/Elson Haas etc.), along with my personal and client experience and research, is that when the body is free of stagnation, the blood is clean and the gut healthy, fruit is the optimal food for the human body. The fruit breaks down quickly in the stomach, provides enzymes and phytonutrients (the compounds that help the plant to survive which in fruits are also good for humans), and the fructose is broken down quickly to provide quick, clean energy without requiring much energy for its digestion (as do many higher cooked protein/fat foods). Fruits and vegetables have protein and fat in them that are actually more bioavailable to the human body than animal proteins and any cooked foods, which the body has to put in additional energy to digest. One can and should eat a lot more in living carbohydrates. These carbohydrates are used for a consistent, lively energy as opposed to the swings and cravings that come along with cooked, miscombined foods (no matter how ‘nutrient-dense). If you get bloated when you eat fruit or too many carbohydrates from plant foods, it is very likely that you need to take it easy and start slow by cleansing: Juice at least once a day in the morning, look into proper food combining (particularly by eating fruit on an empty stomach and definitely not after cooked foods) and upgrading your food choices.
